42227 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon review part I Five ye 42227 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon review part I

Five years after release of 42122 (that's over 100 sets between them!) we got new version of iconic offroad car.

New, rather striking colour scheme, old design with some twist and completely new approach for chassis features.

But let's start from the begining.

All paper bags this time, standard instructions booklet and small sticker sheet can be found along five tires and large Technic frame, all tossed loose in the box.

The build instantly shows how much pieces with perpendicular holes introduced in last few years change the building experience.

We are also getting a shorter version of 5.5 axle, finally. Introduced in 1998(!) it offers unique building options thanks to stop placed on its, but sometimes was too long.
Now it comes with 4.5 length and I already see many ways to use it in models.

I like that in rather small model designer incorporated a bit more advanced suspension with shock absorbers (at least on rear) than on 42122, which had just a pendular axle with additional shock absorbers for keeping it leveled.

There's also a fake V6 engine, driven by rear differential, using standarized small pistons.
The building process of the chassis, especially placing whole top frame with engine is very enjoyable.

The bodywork on other hand is rather boring, with many submodels built in pairs.

Front grille uses printed 1x3 liftarms and there are, as usual, pieces that are printed off-center. Bit annoying.
Speaking of flaws - there are six stickers meant to be placed on Dark Turquoise pieces. And guess what - their colour don't match the pieces.

I have two built 42227's and bonnet stickers on one of them, placed on curved bricks start to peel off already...

End of part I

New Jeep, new-old Trophy Truck!

Sharing few details with my 42122 Trophy Truck this one comes with working V6 engine, steering and suspension (independent on front) and it seems that 42227 colour pallete is not that bad as it seems.

Thoughts?

This jump between 30k and 31k is interesting from perspective of someone who shares their work on Instagram.

It took 60 WEEKS (yes, over a year) to gain additional 1k subscribers with trying to show something more than randomly connected bricks.

Anyway, thanks for every single follow, it still shows that people want to see some of my work and reviews :)
